              DA REBEL GAWWD

I grew up in Utica, Ny. Coming up I was raised by mother and my grandmother in a house hold where we were not allowed to listen to hip hop. Growing up we listen to record Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Gil Scott-Herron, and music of that nature is all I identified with as a kid there was some rap like tribe called which was pretty much it that why there my favorite group. When I was 9, my Uncle Toot moved in with us. He really introduced me to hip hop. Biggie of course, Redman, Method Man, Wu-Tang, CNN, Nas, Nosta, Mobb Deep, Ice Cube and everything he liked. When i was 12 years old I bought my very first album that was Q-Tip's "Amplified". I would play that CD and practice in the mirror for hours. After that,  I would buy a CD every time I got an allowance. At that time Jay-Z became my favorite artist. When I was 14 years old I started writing my own rhymes and participating in the local battle cyphers. I knew Merk, my producer (M.N.T. BEATS) since we were about 8 or 9 years old  playing basketball in park. We immediately clicked. When I started rapping he allowed  me to sit in his sessions while he made beats. From then on we would start multiple groups and try our hardest to break in. Due to my heavy ear for soul records we became addicted to sampling the old records. I always wanted to send a message in every song. This isn't my whole story but this is what ultimately influenced me to start REVO and try to make music that touches the soul.
